3D Graphics Performance Measurement for Automotive Applications
Futuremark, creators of the industry standard benchmarking software for graphics performance for OpenGL ES and DirectX APIs, has started a program for automotive applications. We urge all interested companies in the automotive industry to participate.
The outcome of the project will be widely tested and validated benchmark testing software, licensed as a source code distribution. The benchmark is designed to be used for the performance evaluation of graphics cores, chips, SoCs, embedded systems and devices.

We are now inviting qualified companies to pre-license the product. Pre-licensing will give privileged access to specifications and early builds. You also will be able to help provide your valued technical opinion to the implementation of the benchmark by giving feedback throughout the development.
Exclusive Benefits with Pre-Licensing
Source code access
Reduced license fees
Ability to provide comment on the benchmark design
Early access to specifications and development versions of the benchmark
No Strings Attached
Aside from the license fee, you do not have any other obligations ¨C but you do have a right to contribute to the project. We encourage you to give feedback and share with us your vision on what the automotive benchmark should be.

About Futuremark
Futuremark's handheld benchmarks are already the choice of leading technology companies, including AMD, ARM, Broadcom, DMP, Freescale, Imagination Technologies, Intel, Marvell, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Renesas, Samsung Electronics, and Texas Instruments. Most handset manufacturers also use Futuremark's products. Operators, seeing that applications performance is a key decision criterion for hundreds of millions of customers are also increasingly using benchmarks in their handset selection processes.
Automotive Benchmark Overview
Automotive benchmark is designed as an extensive and complete benchmark suite to reliably gauge the performance of an automotive graphics and display solution running applications that utilize OpenGL ES 1.x and 2.0 APIs.
Potential main workload categories and their relation to automobile applications are:
| Automotive application |
Benchmark workload categories |
| Dashboard & Meters |
Needle (graphics object) rendering |
| Info system interface |
User interface |
| Location based services |
Navigation/mapping |
| All graphics related applications |
Fillrate, polygon throughput |
In addition to the above, we are planning to implement a suite of feature and other tests.
Please note that Futuremark may choose to implement only part of the described tests. Selection is made based on the amount of pre-licensees (total funding) and their priorities.
