HomeLAN has posted an interview with Sony Online's Joe Marullo, taking a look at their upcoming massively multiplayer online first person shooter, PlanetSide. Covering the art side of things, here's a taste:

HomeLAN - How do you work with the programmers, level designers and other team members to implement what they want to put into the game?
Joe Marullo - I try to stay away from the programmers, lest I start secretly requesting unplanned features. I've found that this doesn't do good things for your project's timetable. :)
No, seriously.. like anyone here I coordinate with whomever I need to when attempting to get a task completed. Sometimes that's required more than others. I can, for example, work on a series of weapons for weeks and only spend time interacting with the concept artists, the designer, and our art director to make sure a game asset goes from concept to reality smoothly. That process is fairly low key. But then suddenly it comes time for a group of weapons to be animated and inserted into the game for the next play test, and life becomes a little more hectic as I find myself coordinating with more and more people. Oh, how I miss the days when you just built something and inserted it easily into the game yourself. :)
