HomeLAN has tossed up a preview on Freeform Interactive's upcoming first person shooter/RPG, Purge, after getting a chance to check out the latest build. Here's a clipping:
The character generation system in Purge is actually quite complex. There are six playable characters in the beta version (eight are planned for the full release of the game) and like the Future vs. Fantasy mod are separated into two groups: the sci-fi oriented Order which contains characters like the cyborg and android and the fantasy oriented Chosen with characters like the Mage and Fighter. There are no simple free-for-all deathmatch modes in this game. Rather the game can be set up for a number of different modes that can affect how the game is played. One is called Super Portal which makes each team's portal nearly impossible to destroy. Each playable character has seven different attributes grouped in two categories (physical and mental) and each affects how the player can handle a character. A character with high agility is faster than normal while better intelligence is useful to handing more skills. The range of attributes and the player abilities it affects is very deep but players should be able to get used to it once they start playing.
