The Games Domain has slapped up a preview on Digital Illusions' upcoming expansion pack, Battlefield 1942: The Road to Rome. Here's something to chew on:

Although the Digital Illusions design team members are keeping some of the finer details close to their collective vest, each of the new maps will be based on specific battles. You will be able to re-enact the battle for the monastery at Monte Cassino, once more stage the invasion of Sicily in Operation Husky, fight for possession of Salerno, deal with roads and rivers in Anzio and Operation Baytown, and duel over the mountain fortress of Monte Santa Croce. All of the new maps will feature Italy's characteristic rolling terrain, which should make many battles revolve around "take that hill, sergeant" situations where you must fight for control of one elevated landmark after another.
