C&C: Generals Preview

PC.IGN has thrown up a preview on EA Pacific's upcoming 3D RTS, Command & Conquer: Generals, after getting a chance to check out a build. Here's a clipping:

After playing through the first few Chinese missions, I began to jump ahead to some of the later GLA and US missions. I was impressed that the three sides each had such a different play style and offered different options and opportunities for victory. The numbers-heavy Chinese rely on mass to wear down their enemy. The fact that the Chinese also get a Horde bonus for grouping similar units further emphasizes this strategy. The US player, having the most hi-tech units, can deal out serious damage but has to be careful to preserve their more expensive units. The GLA rely instead on subterfuge and indirect attacks.

The game recently went gold and is expected to hit North America February 11th, so keep an eye out for it!
