Lately, Asus has been manufacturing some very overclocker-friendly versions of their mainstream motherboards, as part of the Republic of Gamers series. TechGage has just posted a review of the ASUS Blitz Extreme & Formula motherboards, two high-end Intel P35 Express based motherboards.
Heres what they had to say:
When all said and done, I am going to award both boards an eight out of ten along with our editor's choice award. Both boards are great overclockers, feature a packed bundle and also 8x CrossFire and of course it's one of the few boards to feature water-cooling built-in. These are great boards overall and I plan to continue using them in our performance-related reviews until something better comes along.
While these motherboards may not look dramatically different from standard P5K's, Asus has done a terrific job tweaking all necessary functions. These are obviously not cheap motherboards, however they are not meant to be. For hardcore overclockers, there are no better motherboards on the market than the Republic of Gamers series, and this was proven with the Asus Commando. Naturally, in order to get the best possible performance out of thess products, you will need water cooling, but I suspect this will not be a significant drawback for the intended market.
