- Anandtech: Intel's 8-core Skulltrail Platform: Close to Perfecting the Niche:
Intel's V8 platform was a niche product but it wasn't very well executed. Skulltrail fixes many of the problems posed by V8 and does so well enough that we don't have a problem recommending it, assuming you are running applications that can take advantage of it. Even heavy multitasking won't stress all 8 cores, you really need the right applications to tame this beast.

So the closing line goes like this; if you are on a quest to have the best, the fastest, the incredible and do not care about money whatsoever .. look no further; you found it. Intel's Skulltrail is just astonishing. It's a situation where all the best hardware components come together, form a synergy and then has the sheer power to stun & amaze you. That's exactly what Skulltrail is all about. Rumor is that only 2000 boards will be available. So get them while you can. Why is Intel bothering to release such a niche and expensive platform then ? Well .. 'because they can'. And what's not to like about that attitude?

- HotHardware:
Intel Skulltrail Unleashed: Core 2 Extreme QX9775 x 2:
It is very easy to summarize Skulltrails performance. Due to the systems relatively high-clock speeds and eight processor cores, Skulltrail significantly outperforms every other platform in multi-threaded applications that can utilize all of the systems CPU resources. In single-threaded situations as well, the 3.2GHz QX9775 processors with their 1600MHz FSB frequency also allow Skulltrail to finish at or near the head of the pack in most tests. Its only in memory bandwidth limited situations, where all of the CPU cores arent utilized, that Skulltrail doesnt dominate due to the use of DDR2-800 FB-DIMMs.
