Hardware Canucks, Hardware Secrets, and ThinkComputers have reviewed HTPC cases from Antec, Apevia, and Sunbeamtech.

Let’s see what they had to say:

  • Hardware Canucks: Antec Veris MicroFusion Remote 350 HTPC Case Review:

“There is a lot to like about the MicroFusion Remote 350. The case itself is a wonderful mix of design and elegance which would make even the most comprehensive of entertainment centers complete. The case itself is classic Antec engineering, and from an engineering standpoint is pretty darn impressive. To be honest, the only thing better than its classy brushed aluminum looks is its potential for durability. Our first impressions told us this was going to be a great case and both our external and internal impressions helped reinforce this feeling; however, once we started the installation process glaring shortcomings started to appear. These shortcomings and annoyances were to some extent alleviated by the good software included but in the end they were compounded once we got to the LCD / IR portion and further reinforced by the remote’s shortcomings.”

  • Hardware Secrets: Sunbeamtech Acrylic HTPC Case Review:

“Sunbeamtech Acrylic HTPC case is a 100% transparent case targeted to the user that wants to build an HTPC with a very different looks. Its looks, however, will not please everyone. Some will find it exciting, while some will find it ugly for an HTPC that will be on the living room. Here is a summary of what we found out about this product.”

  • ThinkComputers: Apevia X-Master HTPC Case Review:

“I really like what Apevia has done with the X-Master. I had never seen an ATX power supply in such a small case, it is a great idea to do what they have done. The large power supply does take up a lot of room inside the case, but Apevia made it so you still can fit 2 optical drives and 2 hard drives inside the case. Things are a little cramped, but it works. Also I like that you are able to use an ATX motherboard, not many cases this small offer that.

The outside of the case is plain, but Apevia does offer it in 4 other colors besides the black version that we received. Also I'm glad Apevia did not skimp out on front ports, you get 2 USB, Firewire, and audio ports right on the front of the case for easy access.”

All three of these models are attractively priced for HTPC cases, and they are worth a look if you are on a tight budget.
