Guru3D, ITreviewed, iXBT Labs, and TweakTown have reviewed the new mainstream NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1GB graphics cards from ASUS, ECS, and Zotac.
Let's see what they had to say:
- Guru3D: ECS GeForce GTS 250 1024MB review:
"There's really little to dislike about what ECS is offering here today. The product as presented, though clocked 100% reference, shows very decent potential with overclocking. Though not to massive extremes, you will push another 10% performance out of it fairly easy.
What we also like is the level of customization. The blue PCB, metal PCB cover and the custom cooler. Granted, the cooler will get a little noisy when you are gaming with the graphics processor heavily stressed, it's however nothing very extreme. So seen from an overall perspective, the product design and presentation is definitely very nice.
The trick with a product series like the GeForce GTS 250 is of course price versus performance. Where you had to pay 199-229 USD for a GeForce 9800 GTX+, you can now purchase the GeForce GTS 250 with 512MB of memory for 139 USD. At this price level it is competing directly with the Radeon HD 4850."

- ITreviewed: Zotac GeForce GTS 250 AMP! Edition reviewed:
"Is the GeForce GTS 250 AMP! Edition a good product? Yes, very much so, at least for a mid-class single GPU graphics card. For the money you are getting a well supported card that outperforms a GeForce 8800GTS or 9800GTX. Put two together and it even outperforms the GeForce GTX 285. Having said that, the GeForce GTX 285 is my preferred option as it doesnt require an SLI-ready motherboard and does not depend on multi-GPU driver support, so youll have less compatibility problems with games. The GeForce GTS 250 AMP! Edition doesnt support DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1 either, nor is there a HDMI port. Overall it is a solid performer and reasonable value, but not earth shattering."

- iXBT Labs: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1024MB:
"Well, what can we say? It's essentially the good old GeForce 9800 GTX+, and the tests prove it. When the GTS 250 1024MB performs faster than the 9800 GTX+, in the lion's share of cases these performance gains appear due to the frequency difference (Zotac card operates at higher frequencies). Such products absolutely don't need two GB of memory installed. You can see the difference only at 2560x1600, which is beyond playable.
On the whole, if we compare the new (old) products with the HD 4850, the latter is defeated. However, the 4870 is quite another story. And we know that its recommended price has dropped to the level of the GTS 250 1GB."

- TweakTown: ASUS GeForce GTS 250 Dark Knight Graphics Card:
"The Dark Knight version of the GTS 250 puts a nice little twist on a card that we already love. Not only do you get all those extra software programs that ASUS add to the bundle, but you get a cooler that does a good job of keeping the temperature on the card down without the cost of more noise, too. In a perfect world this is exactly what you want, better performance in cooling and noise.
If that's not enough for you, ASUS has also got a TOP version which has a ramped up core and memory clock to give us even more performance while also using the same cooler that does such a great job.
The Dark Knight series is quickly becoming a nice series from ASUS and we're looking forward to seeing more and more products come into it as time goes on. As we just mentioned before, the fact that you can purchase the TOP variant of the card brings another part of our favorite series into this one."
