CDRinfo, Guru3D, Hardware Canucks and TweakTown have reviewed a few 120GB to 256GB solid state drives (SSDs) from Corsair, OCZ and Patriot.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • CDRinfo: Patriot Memory Torqx 128GB SSD:

"We have serious reasons to suggest this product to all users who need a fast solid state drive. The Torqx drive does not suffer from the stability issues reported from previous MLC-based SSD and it is also available at the reasonable price (for the category) of $385 (after rebate). The product is also backed by a 2-year warranty and possibly even more, as long as Patriot Memory decides to extend it following the example of OCZ technology. This product shines in both performance and price for sure."

  • Guru3D: OCZ Summit 250GB SSD Review‏:

"The Summit as such is one lovely SSD for the really enthusiast performance demanding consumers. Much like a high-end graphics card or processor, this product positions itself in that very same segment. What's the drawback you ask? Well, the Summit does come at a steep price, which might hinder sales. You roughly pay 3 EUR per Gigabyte for the 120GB model and 2.6 EUR per GB for the 250GB model we tested today. And sure, we feel that might be a little too much; but we feel the same way about the Vertex series as well. It's the choice you have to make."

  • Hardware Canucks: OCZ Vertex 120GB SSD Review:

"This may be a long winded way of saying that only YOU can make the final decision on whether the G.Skill Falcon, the Intel X-25M, various Samsung SSDs or the OCZ Vertex is right for you. We have a strong hunch many are going to bet on a sure thing and pick OCZ knowing full well that you will not regret your decision. In the end, the OCZ Vertex is many things but we think the best description we can think of, the one which is the most fitting, is Dam Innovative and really DAM GOOD. On behalf of the enthusiast community, thank you OCZ for taking a risk and bringing such an unknown company like Indilinx into the spotlight and then be willing to back it up with a great warranty."

  • TweakTown: Corsair P256 2.5-inch Solid State Disk‏ Review:

"The 256GB capacity market in the US isn’t nearly as saturated as the 128GB arena. If you are looking for a large capacity SSD you have a few options, the Intel 160GB drive that currently sells for 619, the G.Skill Falcon 256GB at 589 and the Corsair P256 at 659 (all Newegg prices at the time of writing). These drives represent different chipsets and are the best bang for the buck in their categories. Even now I have mixed feelings about the Corsair P256. On one hand the performance is very good but lags behind the others in some areas. The overall cost is also quite high, but when looking at the cost per gigabyte of storage the number is much lower than the Intel drives."
