Benchmark Reviews, Guru3D, and Tech-Reviews have reviewed mATX motherboards from Intel, PoV, Zotac, all of which feature the integrated Intel Atom 330 dual-core processor.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • Benchmark Reviews: Intel BOXD945GCLF2D Atom 330 Motherboard Review:

"The Intel D945GCLF2D is very well put together. It has got to be hard to fit everything you need for the computer onto such a tiny surface. The machine hold up very well under difficult circumstances as well. I have had it bolted into the back of my car for a couple weeks and it hasn't had any problems. You can tell that this product was made to be affordable, but it is sturdy enough to handle the job.

Performance for it's intended use is no problem. Made specifically for "nettop" systems, this motherboard/cpu combo rises above its humble expectations and truly shines where it counts; performance. While it doesn't support all of the fun gadgets and gizmos that more expensive boards do, it functions perfectly doing what it was made to do. "

  • Guru3D: Point of View Ion 330 Motherboard Review‏:

"With the release of Point of View's ION 330 based motherboard you get a feature rich motherboard with embedded CPU and GPU, and that is just a nice step forward in this segment of the market, inexpensive Atom based mini-PCs, with a completely new level of features and performance embedded in it. Mind you that this is their first ION offering, a new one is in the worls already with traditional DDR2 (dual channel_) memory and wireless as well. Pretty cool stuff really.

So if you plan to build a relatively simple and cheap Internet PC, or decent enough HTPC this is an alternative you might want to look into. It's relatively cheap, feature rich and is capable of all the basic functions you need a PC to do. All that combined with very low power consumption definitely makes the POV ION 330 motherboard a small success in my book."

  • Tech-Reviews: Zotac ION A-Series ITX Motherboard Review:

"The Zotac ION A-Series motherboard is a great bundle to be had. It performed well in all the tests and even proved itself to play full HD clips easily. This would therefore make it an ideal choice to be used in a HTPC.

Coupled with 2GB of RAM the Zotac Ion could become a perfect little runner which will easily handle most computing tasks.

Bottom Line: For £170 you get a lot for your money with the Zotac ION A-Series. It is a well recommended product by me for anyone wanting to build an ITX or HTPC system."

If you are building a small, cheap, energy-efficient system that will be mainly used for light duties (web browsing, office, etc) then all these motherboards are absolutely ideal.
