Driverheaven, Hardware Secrets, JonnyGURU, PC Perspective and PCSTATS have reviewed 750W to 1000W power supplies from Cooler Master, PC Power & Cooling, Seasonic, SilverStone and Thermaltake.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • Driverheaven: Cooler Master UCP 900W PSU Review:

"The UCP 900W is a high quality product from a very reputable manufacturer. Its overall electrical performance is excellent and it will also operate quietly under nominal load. Even though the UCP isn’t a modular unit, the textured paint job and unique chassis help it stand out from the crowd. By choosing the right components Cooler Master managed to earn an 80Plus silver certification for the UCP 900W and that helps the overall performance , even though it wasn’t enough to keep the unit running entirely quiet up to maximum load."

  • Hardware Secrets: PC Power & Cooling Silencer 910 Power Supply Review:

"PC Power & Cooling Silencer 910 is a terrific high-end power supply, presenting an outstanding efficiency of at least 85% if you pull up to 80% from its labeled capacity (i.e. up to 728 W). At full load (910 W) efficiency was 83.4%, which isn’t bad at all! Noise and ripple levels were always very low.

Notice that we are more rigorous on our tests than the folks at 80Plus; they test power supplies at 23º C (a temperature impossible to be achieved inside a PC) while we test them at least double this temperature. Since efficiency drops with temperature, our results are lower (but more realistic) than those reported by 80Plus."

  • JonnyGURU: Silverstone OP1000-P 1000W PSU Review:

"At last, I have a Silverstone that has risen above the "just good enough" level to be worthy of a good dose of praise. Efficiency was outstanding, bettering the 80 Plus numbers by enough to clear Bronze. Voltage regulation was every bit as good as or perhaps a little better than the older OP1000-E. But the real story is in the scope shots, where the overshoot transient suppression has turned out to be among the best I've tested at 12V, and where the general ripple and noise suppression is now markedly improved over the previous generation. Is it enough of an improvement for a perfect score? Well... no. But it's getting up there. 9.5."

  • PC Perspective: Thermaltake Toughpower XT Series 850W Power Supply Review‏:

"The Thermaltake Toughpower XT Series 850W PSU delivered excellent voltage regulation with very good efficiency. The XT 850W is relatively quiet, runs cool during normal operation, and includes a good compliment of modular cables/connectors. The main weakness we found was a relatively high level of AC ripple on the +12V DC output when the PSU was subjected to heavy loads.

The Thermaltake Toughpower XT Series 850W PSU is currently available and typically sells for around $239.99 USD, which is a little on the expensive side when compared with some other high-quality PSUs like the Antec Signature 850W ($239.99) or the Corsair 850HX ($194.99) that manage to keep the AC ripple under control."

  • PCSTATS: Seasonic M12D-750 750W Power Supply Review‏:

"Seasonic 's M12D 750 is a high-capacity, modular 750W power supply that's aimed at the enthusiast, but still manages to be fairly power efficient.

The Seasonic M12D-750's detachable cabling makes it easy to keep your computer case clean and easy to work inside of. Being able to remove cabling when system components are not in use also improves airflow and lowers ambient system temperatures.

Adding in cables only takes a second, and the cables themselves fit quite snugly and stay in place well. It's a genuinely useful feature to have, and the Seasonic M12D-750 takes it a step further by giving users the options to swap between SATA and four-pin molex connectors."
