Hardware Secrets, JonnyGURU, PC Perspective, and PureOverclock have reviewed 400W to 1250W power supplies from Antec, Enermax, HEC, and OCZ.

Here's what they had to say:

  • Hardware Secrets: Antec Basiq BP500U Power Supply Review:

"Antec Basiq BP500U is a pretty decent mainstream 500 W power supply that can really deliver its labeled power at 48º C – in fact we could pull up to 640 W from it.

Efficiency was between 81% and 83% when we pulled between 100 W and 400 W from it. At 500 W efficiency dropped a little bit below 80%, as it is normal to happen with products from this class."

  • Hardware Secrets: OCZ StealthXStream 400 W Power Supply Review:

"OCZ StealthXStream 400 W is probably the best entry-level power supply we reviewed to date. It can not only deliver its labeled power at 47º C, but also presents a high efficiency of up to 85%, voltages very close to their nominal values (below 3% margin, while ATX spec allows up to 5%) and amazingly low noise and ripple levels.

If you are building an entry-level or mainstream computer with a simple video card, this is one of the best options on the market and its low price (USD 55) makes it to have an unbeatable cost/benefit ratio."

  • JonnyGURU: Antec Earthwatts 750W PSU Review:

"The Antec EA750 is a decent budget unit that happens to have some nice performance characteristics. Unfortunately, these nice characteristics are outweighed by an absurd price with regard to the way this unit performs. With a current price gap of only five bucks at Newegg, the EA750 is almost directly competing against a far better performing Antec model in the True New 750. Yes, this unit is better built than the True New, but people... let me make this easy for you. Spend the extra five and get the better performing model. Get this one only if it's on sale for $85. Otherwise, I don't see it being worth it. "

  • PC Perspective: Enermax Galaxy EVO 1,250W Power Supply Review:

"The Enermax Galaxy EVO 1,250W PSU delivered good voltage regulation (especially on the important +12V rails) with relatively clean outputs and good efficiency. The EVO 1,250W PSU is quiet, runs cool during normal operation, and includes an excellent compliment of both fixed and modular cables/connectors.
The new Galaxy EVO 1,250W PSU looks like a Revolution 1,050W inside and out but the EVO appears to have sacrificed a little efficiency and has slightly higher levels of AC ripple on the DC outputs to gain UL certification. And for all that Enermax claims the EVO 1,250W PSU is designed to be future-ready, they only back it with a 3-year warranty. Come on, this bad-boy deserves better than that."

  • PureOverclock: Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050W Power Supply Review:

"The Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050W is a brute of a power supply in just about every conceivable manner of criteria: it's strong, durable, and attractive. It can handle just about anything you can throw at it and will provide rock solid stability and power for your precious system. Perhaps most surprising is the price, which is only about $40 more after rebate than much lesser-capable and lower quality units on the market. Enermax is a premium brand and you get your money's worth on this power supply. The Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050W is an excellent power supply for very demanding users, and if you're in the market for a kilowatt unit then this one should be at the top of your shortlist."

  • PureOverclock: HEC Raptor 1100CM Power Supply Review:

"That being said, however, perhaps the most attractive feature of the Raptor 1100CM is its price: at about $160, it is very affordable for a kilowatt unit and is one of the least expensive you can find on the market. The Raptor 1100CM is a great all-round power supply that offers an attractive combination of features, functionality, and aesthetics. If you are on a bit of a tight budget but need a kilowatt power supply, the HEC Raptor 1100CM should be on your shortlist. "
