Madshrimps and Rbmods have reviewed the budget-oriented Axle Radeon HD 5450 512MB GDDR3 graphics card.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • Madshrimps:

"Considering the heatsink size and the fact that we cannot find a fan on it, I was amazed of the low temperature the GPU had, in both 2D and 3D. The power consumption is also a very good factor to consider this card for using inside a machine running 24/7.

A none-gaming card shouldn’t come with a high price tag, luckily the AXLE Radeon HD 5450 fits the bill and can be found in shops between €40~45, making it an ideal HTPC component for your next build/upgrade."

  • Rbmods:

"Being priced under 40€ here in Finland, the Radeon HD 5450 is definitely something worth considering if you're building a HTPC machine or do not need all the fancy features and gamespeed provided by the more expensive models. In tests HD 5450 won the similarly priced GT210 in every test so there's no question which one was faster. Also like any 5000-series Radeon also this one supports three display's connected simultaneously thanks to AMD Eyeinfinity technology. I could recommend this card to anyone who is looking for silent HTPC card."

This is very good graphics card for HTPC use, but obviously it's useless for any serious gaming.
