Madshrimps and t-break have posted reviews of the ECS P55H-AK Black Series, an Intel P55-based LGA1156 motherboard that features two SATA 6GB/s, two eSATA 6Gb/s, and four USB 3.0 ports.

Here's what they had to say:

  • Madshrimps:

"The P55H-AK motherboard is a huge step-up from their previously launched motherboards; the cooling on the VRMs, NVIDIA NF2100 and P55 chipset is improved and has an interesting artwork on top of the heatsinks.

A very interesting and useful addition is the USB 3.0 front panel, which we can use with almost any case; as we know, there is a very little number of computer cases that support USB 3.0 at the moment and it is not very nice to go in the back our case every time we need to use the new interface. (The currently released PCI-Express add-on cards do have only connectors on the back of the case, but no headers to connect with the front panel)."

"So what we have here is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and a black one at that. (Sorry, couldn’t avoid the one!) While we don’t have an official price from ECS yet, given that the P55H-AK is a P55 based board, it shouldn’t cost any more than comparable motherboards. As such, it should one of the best value for money motherboards out in the market right now. [UPDATE: ECS has priced the P55H-AK for AED 1245/ USD 339] The extra USB 3.0 and SATA3 ports add to the overall expandability of the board and the overclocking potential here is remarkable. With all of this in mind, anybody who’s out there to build an exceedingly capable machine with a relatively low budget should definitely consider the ECS P55H-AK Black Series motherboard."

It is clear that ECS are making large strides in the motherboard department. This new P55H-AK is a significant improvement over the previous P55H-A in every respect.
