APH Networks, ASE Labs, Rbmods, and techPowerUp have posted a review of the very affordable laptop-style Arctic Cooling ARCTIC K381 keyboard.

Here's what they had to say:

  • APH Networks:

"Additionally, I must say that a keyboard's typing quality is quite fundamental, and the K381 is really not that brilliant -- not to mention that some keys are even stiffer than what we would normally expect. If you're looking for a stylish, low profile, sleek and slim chiclet keyboard, the ARCTIC K381 is all yours for only twenty five bucks... just remember that it is only as good as any other run of the mill keyboard in this price bracket once you get your hands on it. But at least it looks good!"

  • ASE Labs:

"If you like Arctic Cooling, pair this keyboard up with the M571 mouse to have an excellent combination for gaming. In addition to performing well, the K381 is small enough to take with you to LAN parties. While the minimalistic design may shun away some people that like macros, the overall design and feel are good. The K381 has a MSRP of $24.95. This is a great price on a good product. Arctic Cooling is pricing themselves into an excellent place in the market. While the brand may not have the clout that Logitech has, at these prices, people will try them out."

  • Rbmods:

"The ARCTIC K381 keyboard is nicely designed and looks wonderful on the desk. I would really like to see a model in white version. I am sure that white K381 is real gem among the keyboards. K381 has basic features, with additional function keys, and as such is designed for beginners. I have never had a chance to see the keyboard so slim before, and here I thought my Genius keyboard was somewhere abour optimal dimensions! If you are looking for a good looking and functional peace of input device for your office, you should think about K381 very seriously."

  • techPowerUp:

"The Arctic Cooling K381 presents a relatively fine mix of features at a lowish price. At $24.95 the K381 is only a little more than your standard run of the mill keyboard. The design is more attractive than the very cheapest stuff on the market, but it comes at a price both monetary and performance wise. The keys are of dubious quality and the quality of the construction is below that of most $20 keyboards. The K381s does have a few things going for it, for one the keyboard is slim line with a big emphasis on slim and it has quite a few extra function keys as well. One of the biggest pros with this keyboard is its size. It packs a full numeric pad and has a lot of extra keys without taking up an excessive amount of desk space. Compared to my Logitech keyboard the Arctic Cooling is 5 cm (~2 inches) shorter and 5 cm narrower."

This is definitely worth considering for those who want a low-profile, island-style keyboard. The fact that is only costs $25 is great too.
