BCCHardware, Hardware Secrets, and PureOverclock have reviewed the ASRock 890FX Deluxe4 motherboard, one of the cheapest AMD 890FX-based AM3 motherboards that supports both SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • BCCHardware:

"The ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4 is a loaded deluxe board that doesn't cost a fortune. It offers great things like Firewire, front and rear USB 3.0 as well as rear eSATA3 (6Gbps) and enough other goodies and connections to keep you happy all day long. The DuraCap capacitors are great as they should provide years of trouble-free service. I like the fact that the system panel header is at the bottom of the board as this makes my custom setup much tidier."

  • Hardware Secrets:

"The new ASRock 890FX Deluxe4 is basically an 890FX Deluxe3 with a different USB configuration. Both have four USB 3.0 ports, but on the newer model two of these ports are available on a 3.5” front panel adapter. The Deluxe4 has also two additional USB 2.0 ports. The audio codec was also changed from the VIA VT2020 to the Realtek ALC892, but we have no comments here, since both manufacturers don’t post technical specification about these codecs on their website.

The price difference between the two is of USD 10, and it is up to you to pay a little more to get the frontal USB 3.0 ports."

  • PureOverclock:

"The build quality here is also well done; ASRock has come a long way over the past couple of years in establishing themselves as providing great value boards in the marketplace. On that note, the 890FX Deluxe4 is available for approximately $160 USD, which sits as the least expensive 890FX board on the market that offers SATA 6G and USB 3.0. It's priced better than competitors' boards, so this Deluxe4 is an excellent deal for the features offered. Unless you're looking for extreme overclocks then it's hard to justify spending the extra cash because this ASRock board offers just about everything the majority of users could want at a great price.

Don't expect to break speed records on sub-zero overclocking on this board, but if you have a modest budget and a fairly lofty wishlist, then the ASRock 890FX Deluxe4 is an excellent deal."

This is a great AM3 motherboard for those on a budget who want to build a CrossFire system using mainstream cards. It might not overclock or be as user-friendly as ASUS, GIGABYTE, and MSI models but it is a good deal cheaper.
