Coming just two weeks after the launch of the Sabine mobile platform, AMD have now unveiled their Llano-based A8-3850 APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) and A55 & A75 Fusion Controller Hub (FCH) chipsets for the desktop. This 32nm 2.9Ghz quad-core chip is based on the new FM1 socket, supports DDR3-1866 memory speeds, and features an integrated Radeon HD 6550D GPU with 400 shaders. What's most impressive is the fact this new processor is going to retail for a mere $135, which opens the door for some very cheap yet well-rounded systems.

While the CPU portion of Llano is nothing to write home about, its top-end GPU is significantly better than any of Intel's IGPs. The A8-3850 also has a terrific price tag, which means that budget systems will finally now be able to have some good graphics capabilities.
