Funky Kit and KitGuru have reviewed the SteelSeries 6G V2 mechanical gaming keyboard, which is manufactured with Cherry Black switches and feature anti-ghosting technology.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • Funky Kit:

"If you are looking for something that will improve your typing, look no further. The 6G V2 is an absolute monster. It is well built, and everything you could ask for in a basic keyboard. But if you are looking for a flashy keyboard look elsewhere (but it would be nice for steelseries to have the backlit option for practical reasons) since this keyboard sticks to the basics and does them well.

As of writing, the price of this keyboard is around $100USD which isn't a bad price for what you get. Mechanical switches aren't cheap and the price reflects that. I must also note, that on the box the keyboard has the full-length shift key. If I got a non-standard model to review I hope that is the case since it would be great if Steelseries offered the keyboard with the full-sized shift key to the consumer market."

  • KitGuru:

"The SteelSeries 6G V2 may not be very innovative in terms of design but the lack of gloss plastics and gimmicks is actually quite refreshing. Aside from the removal of the braided cable, the build quality is just as good as the 7G – and the plastic shielding on the 6G V2 is built to a very high standard. The matte finish is sure to stand the test of time better than glossy alternatives and the mechanical switches will further improve its longevity.

Anyone who has used a mechanical keyboard will tell you that there is no going back. They allow for much faster typing and also have a much better feel when gaming. As far as in game performance benefits go, you’re not going to notice much of a difference in speed and agility unless you’re a serious gamer to whom every slight advantage makes a huge difference."

There are many, many, many mechanical keyboards on the market right now, so definitely do your homework before choosing one.
