eTeknix, Madshrimps, Metku, and Real World Labs have reviewed the impressive new PH-TC14PE CPU cooler from Phanteks, a manufacturer that is new to the retail market but which has been around for 20 years.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • eTeknix:

"Throughout testing it traded blows with the biggest and the best CPU coolers and for the most part, ended up leading the way. Considering the competition consisted of heatsinks from brands who have firmly established their place in the list of competitive and well respected cooling companies it is a testament to the engineers at Phanteks who targeted the air cooling performance crown from the start with their first ever consumer CPU cooler. Phanteks' patented P.A.T.S and C.P.S.C technologies clearly delivered on their marketing hype. The performance results may be somewhat trailing in comparison to the Hydro series All-In-One liquid coolers from Corsair, but considering that those competitors use dual fans which spin at over double the RPM of the Phanteks fans and can sound like a jet engine is inside your computer, the performance compromise may well be very worthwhile."

  • Madshrimps:

"While going head to head with the Noctua NH-D14, it finally succeeded to beat it by scoring a temperature half degree lower than the previous air cooling king, this while using the stock fans.

When building a new computer system or just upgrading, if we do not decide to go on the water cooling path, this air cooler is an option to take into account.

Considering that this impressive product is only one of the first items from Phanteks, it is interesting to see what other models they will come up with in the future."

  • Metku:

"There we have it, the Phanteks PH-TC14PE is the highest performance air cooler we've reviewed so far! The difference between it and the Noctua is 2,5°C, with the Thermalright MUX-120 another 0,25°C behind.

The Phanteks cooler doesn't take the first place by having powerful fans, either, because the 1200 RPM fan speed is identical with the Noctua cooler. The fans may be a touch louder than the ones on Noctua, but to see how much effect the fans had, we also tried the Noctua with the Phanteks fans, and it only did 0,75°C better in the loaded test, so the PH-TC14PE still beat it by 1,75°C."

  • Real World Labs:

"Phanteks caught many people off guard since no one really expected for the PH-TC14PE to outperform both the NH-D14 by Noctua and the Silver Arrow by Thermalright. Personally i would really be surprised if Phanteks managed to surpass both mentioned solutions in every possible aspect but this is not the case since the fact is that their solution is somewhat louder at load. On the other hand i guess we really can't have it all and so people looking to get the best possible bang for their buck will be better off with the PH-TC14PE even if the performance difference between these 3 units is not that great."

Wow, I am very impressed! Phanteks has created the best air cooler on the market right now, surpassing the venerable Noctua NH-D14.
