Almost out of nowhere, AMD have just launched their next-generation high-end GPU, the Radeon HD 7970. This new GPU is manufactured on the cutting-edge 28nm processs and features an unbelievable 4.3 billion transistors. Why so much? Well this new Tahiti GPU core is packed with 2048 Stream Processors, but it also devotes a large chunk of die-space to elements that maximize GPGPU performance. With a 925MHz engine clock, and 3GB of GDDR5 connected to a 384-bit memory interface, this card has everything in needs to easily take the crown as the fastest single-GPU graphics card on the market.
