Funky Kit and PureOverclock have reviewed the high-end Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 CPU cooler, which comes with both a 120MM and 140MM fan. This CPU cooler is basically just a regular NH-D14 with a new mounting kit that supports the new Sandy Bridge-E LGA2011 processors.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • Funky Kit:

"If you are looking for the best performing air heatsink on the market, this is it. The Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 has great cooling performance and is built like a tank. You must however keep in mind that it is extremely large, but unless you spend two or three times more for a custom watercooling loop you will not get better performance out of the box."

  • PureOverclock:

"The Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 is one such CPU cooler that claims to offer a successful combination of strong performance while maintaining low noise levels. We know that Noctua has an excellent track record in producing successful heatsinks, as the tower-style D14 has been the best CPU air cooler we've ever tested to date. We are thinking that the new version, the NH-D14 SE2011, might continue that trend as one of the very best."

This is still the best air cooler on the market and it's quiet too. It's relatively expensive for an air cooler at $85, but it might just be worth it if you want the best performance/noise balance.
