OCIA and PureOverclock have posted a review of the Swiftech Apogee HD water block.

Let's see what they had to say:

  • OCIA:

"The Apogee HD replaces the XT water block as Swiftech's top of the line model for 2012. Their claims of increased performance, backed up by our own testing, are confirmed by an observed 2° to 4°C improvement in temperature. Swiftech also claims reduced resistance and increased flow, two factors that are of utmost importance to those with more advanced water cooling systems. While we didn't get to test it out, their new parallel output configuration allows up to three separate components, such as the graphics card, chipset and memory, to be cooled independently of each other, rather than one at a time in a traditional serial loop. This mitigates the need for a second pump to maintain pressure, and coupled with their new MCR revision 3 series radiators, the loop can be split from one to three and back to one again without the need for Y-adapters and overly complex tubing runs."

  • PureOverclock:

"I have always admired Swiftech’s originality in design, not simply taking cues from competitors. The Apogee HD is not only a good performer but also handsome, ease to use and functional. The mounting retention mechanism is still one of the best on the market; it only take two steps to install the block. As for block design, Swiftech seems to have solved the low flow restriction problem, while maintaining the originality of its pin-matrix design, and without compromising thermal performance.

Swiftech also improved the Apogee with higher quality aesthetics and features at a very reasonable price point of about $75. The Apogee HD includes barbs, clamps and high performance thermal paste, which we think is a nice list of accessories for the price. Some may say the XSPC Raystorm offers better value, but if you remove the included barbs and clamps then both blocks are on the same page."

This seems like a pretty good water block for the money, definitely give it a look if you are planning on a D-I-Y water cooling kit.
