PC Perspective have reviewed the brand new Lenovo Ideapad Y480 notebook, which features a 14-inch 1366x768 display, quad-core/eight-thread 2.3-3.3Ghz processor, 8GB of RAM, 750GB 75400rpm HDD and NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE + Intel HD 4000 GPUs.
Here's what they had to say:
"The Lenovo Y480 is a great example of why I have a job. On paper, it looks amazing. An Ivy Bridge quad-core, Nvidia discrete graphics and 8GB of RAM in a 14-inch laptop for $900 (or a bit less, if you wait for Lenovos frequent sales)

The hardware is excellent given the laptops price and size. Sound quality is among the best youll find on a modern laptop. Key feel is above par for the consumer segment. And the design of the laptop is elegant, if not unique.
If you want a reasonably portable laptop that also has a lot of power at a low price you should still give the Y480 consideration."
While the Y480 is less expensive than most ThinkPads, you do get what you pay for. Though it still is a decent choice for customers on a tight budget.
