Titan Quest Dev Diary

PC.IGN has posted a developer diary written by Iron Lore's Michael Sheidow regarding the creatures in their upcoming Action-RPG, Titan Quest. Here's something to sink your teeth into:

Our creature creation process starts with concept art. Our Lead Concept artist, Rich Sullivan, would take all of the reference material and art and begin by creating his own version of a mythological creature. Many versions of that creature would be sketched and reviewed. When the initial concepts are drawn, we are really trying to establish a unique look and feel for the creature. Some things that we keep in mind when creating these sketches are the environments that creature inhabits, the creatures combat style and the size of the creature from game camera distance. For example, if a creature is living in a forest, the details on that creature would look very different than if it lived in the snowy mountains. This is true for the "set dressing" associated with that creature as well. If a monster resides in a camp in a forest, that creature's tents, weapons and gear should look as though it were created from the resources found in that area.
