OCZ's Neural Impulse Actuator

Tue 2007-03-20 - Posted by Davinder "DsK" Kundi
The stuff that is of science fiction is made into reality, introducing the OCZ Neural Impulse Actuator. What this device does it take neural signals, decoding them and combining them with each other to create unique user commands based on the specific permutation of the brain, eye and facial muscle activity. You could truly be plugged into your machine!

Legit Reviews has nice article highlighting this amazing device from the OCZ stand at CeBit 2007, here is a little of what they say:

"Neural activity generates electrical potentials that are picked up by the three electrodes that are on the forehead of the user. The actuator then separates the electrical activities into three classes of neural and electromyographic signals. That is electro oculographic, electro encephalographic and electromyographic signals for those who are wondering! These signals are said to reflect the activities of the extraocular muscles, the brain, and the facial muscles. "

This really is amazing technology, and seems like an ideal candidate for a future Wii controller! How well this device actually works is anyone’s guess but they claim the learning curve is a nice short 2 minutes. The OCZ model seemed quite happy to donate her neural impulses to the cause too.
