Super Talent Announces PC3-16000 2GB Memory Kit

Sat 2008-04-12 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
While the DDR3-2000 milestone has been reached through overclocking, it is still a relatively difficult speed to achieve. Thankfully, Super Talent has just bypassed any overclocking uncertainties by releasing the Project X PC3-16000 2GB memory kit.

Here’s what they had to say:

“Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of DRAM memory modules and flash storage solutions, today announced immediate availability of the popular Project X in a new DDR3-2000 2GB (2x 1GB) kit.

This Project X kit is built with the fastest available, carefully screened DRAM chips, and is hand tested as a matched pair on a dual channel Asus Striker II Extreme motherboard.”

Producing a DDR3-2000 memory kit that only requires 1.9V is quite impressive, regardless of the mediocre 9-9-9 timings. It will be interesting to see how much overclocking headroom there is left, or if the timings can be significantly tightened. Enthusiast favourites like Corsair’s Dominator PC3-14400 memory kit can usually achieve between 1950-2000Mhz 8-7-6 at around 2.1V. At $400, this kit is priced somewhat reasonably when compared to the $650 Crucial Ballistix PC3-16000 memory kit.
