Xigmatek 1000W & 1200W Power Supplies Review

Mon 2008-04-14 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
While Xigmatek is best known for its innovative heatsink designs, they have recently expanded into enthusiast-oriented power supplies. Anandtech has just reviewed Xigmatek’s HC1001 1000W and HC1201 1200W power supplies.

Here’s what they had to say:

“At the end of the day, performance is what counts, and both of the units were really good. The voltage didn’t drop too much on any rail, regardless of what load we applied. Ripple does seem to be a problem, since there were slightly higher results on both units (similar to other CWT manufactured PSUs), but that’s nothing to worry about since everything is still within specification.”

The HC1001 and HC1201 are priced quite reasonably, at $270 and $290 respectively, and are attractive alternatives to the excellent $290 Tuniq Ensemble 1200W PSU. However, unless you are running a triple or quad GPU configuration, you really don’t need such a high wattage unit. For about half the price, you can get Xigmatek’s 750W model, which will easily power any single or dual GPU system you can build.
