Four-Way DDR3-1800 2GB Memory Kit Roundup
ProClockers has just tested four PC3-14400 2GB memory kits, from Kingston, OCZ, Patriot, and Super Talent.
Here’s what they had to say:
“Is there a clear winner here? Yes and No. If you had to conclude a winner it would have to between the OCZ and the Super Talent. One achieved slightly higher in the overclocking test and the other had better numbers when it came to running timings at default. With the evidence seen here anyone with a decent DDR3 based would not have any issues or concerns with any of the kits.
Pricing of these kits could be a more important factor when trying to figure which one to spend your money on. The prices of higher end DDR3 kits are fast dropping and we will see more than just overclockers and gamers jump the DDR2 ship and swim over to the DDR3 yacht.”
The price of DDR3 memory has dropped quite a bit in the last few months, and although it still a lot more expensive than dirt cheap DDR2, it has finally become a viable choice for those with a reasonable budget.
Now the four kits tested in this article performed identically in every possible way, therefore I would obviously recommend that you choose whichever is cheapest in your region.
