EVGA Announces e-GeForce 9600 GSO Models

Sun 2008-04-27 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
I’m a tiny bit late with this, but EVGA has revealed their budget-minded e-GeForce 9600GSO 384MB and 9600GSO Superclocked 384MB graphics cards.

Here’s what they had to say:

“With the EVGA 9600GSO, you can get incredible performance, at an incredible price. Packed with 384MB of DDR3 operating at a remarkable 1900MHz, gives it the memory bandwidth it needs for today's most demanding applications. Featuring second generation PureVideo HD, 100% DirectX 10 support, and PCI Express 2.0 the EVGA 9600GSO Superclocked is the perfect card for the gamer who wants a lot of performance, without spending a lot of money.”

As I posted about earlier this month, the GeForce 9600GSO is simply a rebadged GeForce 8800GS. Is this a bad thing? Not really, since the 8800GS is terrific budget model, but it is needlessly confusing for your average buyer. These new cards are supposed to go on sale May 13th with a suggested retail price of $129, but I expect to see $20-30 mail-in rebates available at launch.
