DFI LP LT X48-T2R Motherboard Review

Mon 2008-04-28 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
DFI has long been known for giving users an unprecedented level of bios tweaking options, and as you will see, it’s a tradition that is alive & well. Anandtech has just posted an impressive review of the DFI LANParty LT X48-T2R, an Intel X48 Express-based motherboard.

Here’s what they had to say:

“What we have here is a motherboard not quite able to dominate the DDR2 sector outright, but it certainly sets new standards in other regards. If tweaking is your thing and you have the patience to work with the extensive BIOS options, there is no doubt that the X48 T2R will keep you occupied for a long time. However, DFI's own P35 offers everything a user could need and can be teamed with a dual-GPU card to get around the P35 chipset limit of having a single x16 bandwidth PCIE slot.”

This is another solid DFI LanParty LT product, and it’s definitely worthy of being the company’s Top-of-the-Line motherboard. However, it has to compete with the exceptional ASUS Rampage Formula, which surpasses the X48-T2R’s overclocking potential, has the energy-saving EPU (Energy Processing Unit) feature, and is only $10 more. Having said that, if your case has a window and a UV cold cathode light, the DFI’s Glow in the Dark bits do look pretty darn cool.
