NZXT Tempest Case Reviews

Thu 2008-05-08 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Are you looking for a case with exemplary cooling capabilities? Well, then you might be interested in the NZXT Tempest, which is dubbed the “Airflow King” due to its total of six 120MM fans.

Here are a few reviews:

  • 3DGameMan:

“The NZXT Tempest Case will be a big hit amongst enthusiasts. Affordability is obviously very important to most folks and this case is very well priced considering what's included. Airflow is crucial and with 6 included fans (4x120mm & 2x140mm) this case is king in that department. HDD storage space is also vital and with space for 8 HDDs this is not a problem. Another big plus is it's compatible and tested with many well known water cooling radiators which can be mounted at the top of the case using the pre-drilled holes. This is one of the best mid-tower cases on the market!”

“The Tempest from NZXT’s crafted series is a very nice looking computer case. With a current street price of $109 plus shipping it is in the same price bracket as the ever-so-popular $99.99 Antec Nine Hundred hardcore gaming case. The Antec Nine Hundred was reviewed here on Legit Reviews last year, so be sure to check out that review also. To compare these two cases one will find that they are similar in style, but the Tempest has a little more going for it; it can hold up to 8 hard drives and the top of the case is designed so that it can mount some of the most common dual 120mm water cooling radiators to it with out modifications. Buying a case is obviously a personal decision, but it would be hard to go wrong with the Tempest.”

  • TechGage:

“I am awarding the Tempest an 8 out of 10. It is a great case and I can indeed say it does have far above average airflow. It scores high in the looks department and it is very roomy for its size. Fit and finish is excellent as well. The ability to not only hold 8 hard drives but to do it without compromising on space is a very good feature. Even with the biggest graphics cards, you will still maintain the ability to run all 8 as well. Wire management capabilities are also better than average. All in all, a great case with all the flexibility you will need for your next build.”

  • TweakTown:

“With a total of six 120mm fans in its standard setup, the NZXT Tempest makes claims of being the “Airflow King”. All fans are properly configured and half of them are equipped to showcase your system with blue LED lighting. The two front fans and the side have this lighting effect in place. All fans ran quietly and performed very well. On top of this, the two fans mounted to the top panel are also set up to run several of the common dual radiators without having to modify the case. We have the makings of NZXT living up to its claim.”

Overall, the reviews are quite positive. However, the Tempest has some serious competition from the Cooler Master Centurion 590, which is not only $45 cheaper, but can hold an amazing nine 120MM fans.
