Arctic Cooling Silentium T3 Case Review

Mon 2008-05-12 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
All the way back in October, Arctic Cooling announced the Silentium T case series, which includes an energy-efficient 550W power supply. Arctic Cooling is obviously best known for their excellent fans and VGA coolers, but can they also make good cases? Let’s find out! DriverHeaven has posted a review of the Silentium T3 mid-tower case.

Here’s what they had to say:

“The finish of the case is good and there are no problems with sections not fitting correctly. There is also plenty of room inside the chassis to work with when building a system and tool free drive/card installation is also very user friendly.

The above aspects of the Silentium are all good but the highlight of the case has to be thermal performance and noise levels. When first building the system we were concerned that our hard drives would cook in the muffler but after testing we see that the large heatsink does its job well, as do the PSU and exhaust fans. The result is a system that when combined with quiet air cooling (Arctic Cooling Freezer Series) is near silent in operation.”

All-in-all, this is a commendable effort by Arctic Cooling. At ~$135, the Silentium T3 is not cheap, but you do get an 80 Plus Efficiency power supply (of unknown origin, regrettably), and an exceptionally quiet computing experience, which is priceless in my book.
