Corsair HX1000W Power Supply Reviews

Mon 2008-05-12 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Ever since Corsair released the HX series back in 2006, it has set a bar that few (if any) have been able to surpass. However, with the advent of triple and quadruple GPU configurations, and the proliferation of 1000W+ power supplies, the HX lineup has looked a little underpowered as of late. Well, Corsair has just rectified that problem in a big way. Hardware Canucks and JonnyGURU have posted reviews of the new Corsair HX1000W, a near-flawless 1000W power supply.

Let’s see what they had to say:

  • Hardware Canucks:

“Us hardware reviewers are an odd bunch; we are blissfully jaded by the multitude of products we see and become harder and harder to impress as time goes on. However, once in a while we receive a product which is so good in every aspect that it makes even the most experienced of us go weak in the knees. For me, this is exactly what happened when I was in the process of reviewing the Corsair HX1000W. In my opinion, there is no such thing as a perfect product but this power supply is so damn close to perfection, reviewing it was an almost religious experience. Call it what you will; a breath of fresh air or maybe even a revelation, but one thing is certain: even though Corsair took longer than expected to release the HX1000W, the wait was well worth it.”

  • JonnyGURU:

“I'm not sure I can say enough good things about this unit. The numbers speak for themselves - the HX1000 did simply an amazing job keeping the voltages in spec, and doing it with efficiency results that rival the best I've ever seen. If there is one thing I can nitpick about it's the ripple results I got on test five's 12V readings, but I have to say that these readings are offset somewhat by, oh I don't know, throwing down full power at a temperature ten degrees hotter than promised.”

SKYMTL from Hardware Canucks, OklahomaWolf from JonnyGURU, the only one who’s missing to make this a perfect trifecta of power supply reviewers is Gabriel Torres over at Hardware Secrets. Anyone buying a power supply should consult their reviews before making a final purchasing decision.

There is nothing that I can add that hasn’t been said above, the HX1000W is an absolute no-brainer for those who need or want a Top-of-the-Line power supply.
