Sapphire Toxic Radeon HD 3870 512MB Review

Tue 2008-05-13 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Big Bruin has just reviewed the Sapphire Toxic Radeon HD3870 512MB GDDR4 graphics card, which sports an innovative Vapour Chamber Technology cooler.

Here’s what they had to say:

“The Sapphire Toxic 512MB Radeon HD3870 graphics card offers strong performance right out of the box, but if you have any interest in overclocking you can turn it into a real powerhouse. The 860MHz limit on the GPU clock does not apply to this card, and it was capable of running at 885MHz by just using the Overdrive tab in the Catalyst Control Center. The innovative Vapor-X cooler keeps the card compact and lightweight, but above all else it handles the heat extremely well.”

The $180 Sapphire Toxic Edition has 800Mhz core/2300Mhz memory speeds, which is a slight boost over the stock 775Mhz/2250Mhz specifications. However, it faces some fierce competition from the faster $180 ASUS Radeon EAH3870 TOP (851Mhz /2280Mhz).
