ASUS P5Q-E Motherboard Review
CPU3D has just reviewed the ASUS P5Q-E motherboard, which is based on the P45 Express chipset, and features the exclusive energy saving EPU (Energy Processing Unit).
Here’s what they had to say:
“The Asus P5Q-E may not be the choice for most overclockers or enthusiasts, but I have to say ... for a mainstream motherboard, it's absolutely amazing for overclocking. I was able to overclock our Q6600 (B3 stepping) to a very impressive 3.5Ghz (7x500) with rock solid stability, all on air cooling. This was all done by using simple voltage increases, lowering the multipler x7 and increasing the CPU frequency to 500Mhz. For overclocking the Asus P5Q-E win top marks here.

Asus have done a great job on the P5Q-E. As a mainstream motherboard, it's affordable, yet it delivers the performance found on most high-end motherboards. The P5Q-E is not to be dismissed, the overclocking ability is amazing. It wouldn't surprise me, if the Asus P5Q series start snapping up awards from everyone worldwide.”
ASUS is going to have to be careful, if its mainstream motherboards are this excellent, there is going to be little incentive to buy their higher-end models. In all honesty though, I can’t think of a single feature that has been omitted from the P5Q-E, and its quad-core overclocking capabilities are extremely impressive too.
