ATI Catalyst 8.5 Performance Analysis
As expected, TweakTown has posted an excellent
performance analysis of the recently released ATI Catalyst 8.5 drivers.
Let’s see what they had to say:
“While there were some performance increases promised, we didn’t really see much across the board. Crysis performance actually took a bit of a hit with the HD 3870 X2. We wouldn’t be in a huge hurry to upgrade to the latest set of drivers unless there were some fixes in the release notes for you.”
In summary, if you are satisfied with the performance, stability, and functionality of your current Catalyst drivers, don’t bother with the 8.5’s. However, if you are experiencing issues, they are worth a try.
