ASUS P5Q Deluxe Motherboard Review

Tue 2008-05-27 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Techgage has posted a review of the upcoming ASUS P5Q Deluxe, a P45 Express-based DDR2 motherboard.

Let’s see what they had to say:

“This P5Q is to retail for just over $200, but is truly packed in terms of features and performance. The board doesn't give us a reason to upgrade, but for a new build, you really do get a lot for your money.

This is the first P45 board I've laid my grubby hands on, but I'm impressed, therefore I'll award it an Editor's Choice award, based on everything we've looked at and the tentative price. As it stands, this is the board I'd choose to use in my personal machine, which says a lot. I don't need insane overclocks, but I do appreciate a nice feature-set and a well-designed board.”

Aside from the impressive 16-phase power design, I can’t find a difference between this P5Q Deluxe and the slightly lower-end P5Q-E. They both seem like tremendous products, with enough features to keep anyone happy (and busy!).

Even though the P45 doesn’t seem to provide any performance improvements over the X38/X48, manufacturers are designing some really exciting products around this chipset, and it may just motivate those with older P965-based motherboards to upgrade.
