FOXCONN Launches New A79A-S AM2+ Motherboard

Wed 2008-05-28 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
FOXCONN has just announced the new A79A-S AM2+ motherboard, which is based on the AMD 790FX chipset.

Here’s what they had to say:

“Yantai, China, May 28th 2008 – FOXCONN today announced the first AMD platform Digital Life motherboard - the A79A-S, designed and optimized for AMD socket AM2+ processors with HyperTransport™ 3 technology.

The A79A-S is the first motherboard on the market to pair the new AMD 750 southbridge with the AMD 790FX chipset. The SB750 southbridge includes more connectivity options and the exclusive AMD overclocking technology - AOD Extreme - which optimizes overclocking performance with Phenom™ processors, enabling them to run more than 200MHz faster.”

This motherboard looks quite appealing, especially since it includes the highly anticipated SB750 southbridge. The SB750 replaces the ancient SB600, and will provide better PCI-E and SATA performance, support for RAID 5, performance improvements for Phenom processors, OverDrive 3.0 (overclocking enhancement), and additional connectivity features. I’m anxious to see some benchmarks!
