ASRock nForce 780a SLI Motherboard Review
ThinkComputers has posted a review of the ASRock K10N780SLIX3-WiFi, which is an nForce 780a SLI motherboard.
Here’s what they had to say:
“The ASRock K10N780SLIX3-WiFi is definitely the board to have for someone wanting to build a Phenom Hybrid SLI rig on a budget. Or not on a budget, it really seems to be a well-made board. The nForce 780a SLI chipset is definitely the platform for someone wanting a serious Phenom rig. The heatpipe cooling was very effective, the NB temp never climbed above 38C. For someone still using PCI devices, there are two PCI slots, you generally find only one on a board with three PCI-E slots. The inclusion of eSATA on a budget-priced board is a nice addition, and available on most newer ASRock boards.
The BIOS is very overclock friendly, with all relative settings on one page, excepting Vdimm. There are plenty of settings to please the overclocker, and the OCTuner overclocking software works well enough that many won't even bother to go to the BIOS.”
This motherboard seems like a smart choice for those who plan on going the AMD Phenom route and want SLI capability. If the reviewer is correct, this model should retail for a mere $150, making by far the cheapest nForce 780a-based motherboard on the market.
