Intel Slashes Core 2 Processor Prices

Intel has just slashed prices on four popular Core 2 processors, and in doing so have created their first sub-$200 quad-core desktop processor. The Core 2 Quad Q6600 drops from $224 to $193, the E8500 from $266 to $183(!), the E8400 from $183 to $163, and the E7200 drops $20 to $113.

Does Intel know something we don’t, or is this just a routine customer-friendly price cut? We’ll have to wait and see. Either way, they have made the E8500 an extremely attractive purchase.
