Keyboard, Mouse, Mousepad Review Roundup - Logitech, NZXT, Razer & More

Fri 2008-09-05 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Benchmark Reviews, Bjorn3D, Metku, TechwareLabs, TechSpot, and TweakTown have reviewed keyboards, mice, and mousepads from Logisys, Logitech, Microsoft, NZXT, Razer, SteelSeries, and Wolfking.

Let’s see what they had to say:

  • Benchmark Reviews: WolfKing Timber Wolf Gaming Keyboard:

“I have come to the conclusion that the Wolf King Timber Wolf is a nice keyboard that should allow a lot of players to improve their gaming skills. There are a few things that could be addressed in a future revision, but overall it is a good buy. I paid about the same for a similar keyboard that requires drivers to operate properly and has a software program that is too overly complicated to completely utilize and crashes frequently. But, the Timber Wolf is ready to go right out of the box.”

  • Bjorn3D: Razer Goliathus Speed Edition Mouse Pad:

“We've been through a lot of Mouse Pads at Bjorn3D. If you knew how many, you might consider us the "Paid Escort" of mouse pads. It turns out that our wandering ways came in handy while testing the Goliathus. With the wide range of pads we've tested over the years we are uniquely qualified to say that the Goliathus was a pleasure to use. It tracked accurately and improved our accuracy. And it saves us money on wet wipes to get that Hot Pocket grease off our hands.”

  • Metku: SteelSeries IKARI Laser and Optical Gaming Mice review:

“Steelseries has once again succeeded in producing reasonably priced products for gamers that do just what they promise. Of course the shape of the mouse is always the biggest factor when buying a new mouse. If the shape of the mouse fits your hand these are both great mice especially if you don't want to bind the mouse buttons.”

  • TechwareLabs: Logisys Ultra Slim Soft Touch Illuminated Multimedia Keyboard:

“Simplicity, Elegance and Fashionable Illumination! This revolutionary two color (Blue/Red) character-Illuminated Keyboard can light up the characters either in blue or in red, just press the ILLUMINATION button located on the right top corner above the numeric keys. It is also an ultra slim, soft touch two-tone black keyboard which has all the frequently used multimedia and internet hot keys handily located at the reach of your fingers. The keyboard features large size ENER key and double size BACK SPACE, and extra size palm rest pad built in a volume dialer for media control. The ultra slim design with glossy black and matt black paint combination give it a contemporary look with elegance. Just like most of Logisys keyboards, the keyboard has a long cord, about 7 feet with USB and PS2 plugs.”

  • TechSpot: The Best Gaming Mouse: Logitech vs. Razer vs. Microsoft:

“At the end of the day, any of these products will certainly improve your gaming experience over any standard two-button scroll optical mouse. However, my personal choice has to be the Microsoft Habu, which offers a nice blend of everything I look for in a gaming mouse, including lasting comfort for those long gaming sessions. Unfortunately it's impossible for us to dictate what will work the best for you, but we are sure that by now you will have made up your mind on how much you want to spend, and what kind of features and design cues from this selection of premium devices appeal the most to you.”

  • TweakTown: NZXT Avatar Gaming Mouse:

“Did I mention it’s an ambidextrous mouse, too? Good for righties and lefties which is a somewhat rare feature in the gaming mouse market. With manufacturers going crazy to slam in as many features as possible, they un-wittingly make the mouse biased to the right handers. By keeping it simple and functional like NZXT does here, they have a true all purpose gaming rodent.”
