Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev.2 VGA Cooler Review

Thu 2008-10-02 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
TweakNews have posted a review of the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev.2 VGA Cooler and the Accelero S1/S2 Turbo Module.

Let’s see what they had to say:

  • Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev.2 Heatpipe VGA Cooler Review:

“Arctic Cooling's well deserved reputation for high performance, low cost VGA cooling remains intact with the release of the Accelero S1 (Rev.2.) With great cooling performance and wide online availability at a pricepoint of $26.00 US or less, the S1 is a superb value. Outstanding support and a six (that's right, I said SIX) year warranty only make the S1 an even sweeter deal. The S1 reaches back to earlier generation graphics cards, giving owners of these cards an inexpensive and silent cooling option.

The S1 was very secure and rigid after mounting, but getting there was a bit of a challenge. Getting everything lined up and the clips installed required a lot of finesse (or an extra hand,) but in the end, it was worth it. And for the price, one can't complain too much.”

  • Arctic Cooling Accelero S1/S2 Turbo Module:

“Arctic Cooling's Turbo Module fan kit may not be the most attractive product to come down the pike, but when combined with the excellent Accelero passive cooler, you'll have a very nearly silent VGA cooler with excellent performance at a very affordable price. I know that these are the very things I look for in a product like this. It's also dead simple to install and the 6-year warranty only adds to its allure. I like the Turbo Module a lot. So does Mr. Bones. We recommend it highly.”

The Accelero S1 is still one of the best Bang-for-the-Buck VGA coolers on the market, but I wouldn’t bother with the $10 Turbo Module. Save your money and simply install a cheap 120MM fan on the Accelero.
