Keyboard Review Roundup - Das Keyboard, Logitech, Thermaltake
Techgage, ThinkComputers, and TweakNews have reviewed keyboards from Das Keyboard, Logitech, and Thermaltake.
Let’s see what they had to say:
- Techgage: Logitech Illuminated Keyboard:
“I really appreciated the minimalist design of the entire keyboard. Logitech was also able to include a number pad while staying away from a keyboard that feels bulky. The backlit keys are also very useful, and create a strong eye-appeal. The ability to control the lighting on the keyboard was even more to my liking, since backlighting can get annoying quickly, especially when you want to watch a movie in the dark or sleep.
The soft wrist rest and crisp, slightly shallow action of the keys makes typing comfortable on the hands. Customizable keys are very useful in my usage of the keyboard, and having them controlled by a separate function key keeps the keyboard uncluttered.”

Thermaltake Soprano Aluminum Keyboard Review:
“If all of the Thermaltake keyboards are like this I really don't think that they should be designing any more. This keyboard was poorly designed with cramped keys that have been shrunken in size. If I wanted to use a laptop keyboard I'd use a laptop. I'd rather have a normal size keyboard for desktop use. The keyboard prices around $49.99 online, but I'd only suggest it if you really like laptop keyboards. ThinkComputers gives the Thermaltake Soprano Aluminum Keyboard a 7 out of 10 score.”

Das Keyboard Professional Premium Mechanical Keyboard Review:
“To lay the cards on the table, I personally deem the Das Keyboard Professional keyboard to be an expensive backwards step in the wrong direction. Sure it has the nice switches that make a nice click noise like the "good ole' days", but do we have to spend US$129 for something that sounds like it was released back in 1992? Other than the switches, what is the draw for the high price? There are plenty of keyboards on the market with glossy finishes, integrated USB hubs and many other features that the Das Keyboard Professional is missing like a wrist pad for a fraction of the cost.”

The Logitech Illuminated appears to be a terrific alternative for those looking for a keyboard with laptop-like keys. It also just looks plain cool.
