PC Case Review Roundup - Antec, Lian Li, NZXT & More
Benchmark Reviews, CPU3D,
Hardware Secrets, TechSpot, and ThinkComputers have reviewed PC cases from Antec, Lian Li, NZXT, and Thermaltake.
Let’s see what they had to say:
- Benchmark Reviews:
Antec Twelve Hundred Gaming Case:
“The twelve hundred is absolutely the heaviest case I've ever worked with. The main chassis feels very strong, made from fairly heavy gauge steel and put together well. The Twelve Hundred's construction is no masterpiece of engineering, no work of art but built with proven methods to get the job done. All but the biggest critic will be happy with the construction of the Twelve Hundred.
Form follows function or is it function follows form? This case looks the part and it performs the part as well. Although I did not scrutinize this case to any formal set of tests I did compare idle temps and load temps for the CPU and GPU to those temps reached in my current case. For the CPU I used a few hours of Orthos and the GPU I used a day of folding. From my previous case to this case I saw an average temp drop of about 6 degrees C. Fan speed had little effect. The noise generated for fans on high made the minuscule temp drops not worth it.”

- CPU3D: Lian-Li PC-60F Aluminum Chassis (Black):
“Lian-Li has done a great job with the PC-60F. The build quality is truely excellent. Made from brushed Aluminum, it's light weight yet strong. In fact, it's so light weight ... I can lift the whole chassis with my little finger! It looks like Lian-Li have really worked hard and produced a chassis, that not only is suitable for high-end enthusiasts, but also for anybody and everybody.
It may lack some of the enthusiast features found on some dedicated gaming chassis, such as meshed side and top panels, but that's really nothing ... when you have a chassis with this much quality. As I've said, the Lian-Li PC-60F isn't really designed for the gamer or extreme enthusiast, but will probably appeal to those who want a classy looking PC with a chassis that has the quality to match.”

- Hardware Secrets: Thermaltake V9 Case Review:
“In summary, if you are looking for a mid-tower case with good features – especially the top big fan and truly screwless mechanisms – at the USD 100 range, Thermaltake V9 is certainly a very good option. This product isn’t flawless, and the main problem with V9 is the low quality of the latches that hold its top panel. As mentioned, the sample we got came with all latches broken. This looks like a design flaw to us, since the latches look a lot thinner than they should be. However, it could also be a bad luck on the shipping on the specific model we got. Also, Thermaltake offers a 3-year warranty, so if your top panel breaks you can always replace your case for a new one.”

- TechSpot: Lian Li Tyr PC-X2000 case review:
“The Lian Li Tyr PC-X2000 is a stunning looking case that is further enhanced by its unique and innovative design. The cooling performance of the Tyr PC-X2000 is also highly impressive, managing to move a significant amount of air all while creating very little noise. With a retail price of $590 we expected it to be nothing short of incredible, and Lian Li has delivered in that sense.”

NZXT Guardian 921 Mid Tower Case Review:
“The NZXT Guardian 921 case is a nice upgrade to the original Guardian. While I don't think it will replace the original Guardian case I think it provides a sleek design and look for those in the gaming scene. The LCD temperature display certainly looks nice and is a general temperature keeper for inside of the case, but it certainly doesn't compare to other separate displays like the NZXT Sentry LX.
Overall this case is well built and would satisfy the average gamer's needs. I found this case for around $99.99 online which seems about average for the quality of the case. Overall ThinkComputers awards the NZXT Guardian 921 Mid Tower Case a 9 out of 10 score.”
