ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe AM2+ Motherboard Review

Tue 2008-10-07 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Legit Reviews have posted a review of the new ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe motherboard, which is based on the AMD 790FX/SB750 chipset.

Let’s see what they had to say:

“It is nice to finally see the SB750 on the same board as the 790FX chipset. The addition of the SB750 brings a performance boost to the aging 790FX, and boosts the performance of the Asus M3A79-T Deluxe to help it outscore its younger sibling, the Asus M3A78-T. It may not have been a huge jump in performance, but it was enough to make a difference in our testing, and certainly proves that the SB750 fits well with the 790FX. Performance wise, this board did just fantastically.

The layout and setup of the board was also excellent. There were absolutely no issues at all. There is plenty of room for any aftermarket cooler that you may pick, and flashing the BIOS is a piece of cake with the EZ Flash Utility.

The bundle that comes with the Asus M3A79-T Deluxe is all that you need to set up and run the board. It is not over the top like some of the bundles we have seen with the R.O.G. boards, but in this price range, you get a pretty good package.”

If you are building a performance-oriented AMD system, this is definitely the motherboard you want. More manufacturers should start using the SB750 southbridge with the high-performance 790FX northbridge.
