Radeon HD 4670 Review Roundup - AMD, MSI, Sapphire

Wed 2008-10-08 - Posted by Patrick "MACMAC" MacMillan
Bjorn3D, CPU3D, PC Perspective, and TweakTown have reviewed Radeon HD 4670 graphics cards from AMD, MSI, and Sapphire.

Here’s what they had to say:

  • Bjorn3D: Sapphire HD 4670:

“As far as the performance of the HD 4670 goes, it is one of the best among its price bracket. Despite its being priced a for budget market, it is capable of performing so much better than its competitor, the GeForce 9500GT. In every tests, its performance was not only far superior to the GeForce 9500 GT, but it is also capable of performing close to the 8800 GTS, the midrange card that cost approximately $200 eighteen month ago. For a budget card, it’s an excellent choice.”

  • CPU3D: Sapphire Radeon HD 4670 (512Mb DDR3):

“Mainstream users will be glad that ATI haven't forgotten about them. The Sapphire Radeon HD 4670 does offer decent performance at a price that's irresistably attractive. You also get great features which include the support for DX10.1, x24 custom AA, HDMI, HDCP, CrossfireX, as well as lower power consumption. It's not suitable for the extreme, hardcore enthusiasts ... but for everyone else who's on a tight budget ... this could be the card for you.”

  • PC Perspective: AMD Radeon HD 4670 512MB Review - Good gets cheaper:

“The AMD Radeon HD 4670 512MB card is nothing less than one of the best values in budget graphics in years. For under $90 you can game with today's top titles, build a sweet home theater PC and leave yourself open for a nice upgrade months down the line with an impressive CrossFire scaling. Gamers that are looking to push resolutions of 1920x1200 or beyond will likely need to upgrade their budget and move up the line of graphics card performance but I have a good suspicion that most casual PC gamers will find themselves impressed by the HD 4670.”

  • TweakTown: MSI Radeon HD 4670 Graphics Card:

“The HD 4670 is an impressive card; it offers some good numbers for a mid-range card while being competitive on the price front. With the MSI HD 4670 coming clocked in at default speeds, it’s no surprise that the performance of the card is extremely similar to the Sapphire option.

Fortunately, the card is not just a copy cat, though; the cooler that MSI have opted for, while being dual slot, is nothing short of fantastic and helps keeps temps way down. It also manages to be slightly quieter than the cooler that Sapphire has chosen due to the fact that MSI have gone for a bigger fan that spins slower.”
