PC Case Review Roundup - Cooler Master, Lian-Li, NZXT
bit-tech, DriverHeaven, Hardware Secrets, Rbmods, TweakTown, and Virtual-Hideout have reviewed PC cases from Cooler Master, Lian-Li, and NZXT.
Let's see what they had to say:
- bit-tech: Cooler Master Sniper chassis Review:
"here’s certainly a lot to like here, with industrial styling which, while perhaps a little heavy on the metal mesh and plastic fascias, is an unquestionable improvement over the HAF 932.
As well as more sensible looks The Sniper has also been built with fantastic build quality throughout. It might sound simple, but you’d be amazed how many high end enthusiast chassis are poorly made or easily broken – we’re never overly careful because a case should withstand a little bit of rough and tumble of everyday use - and it’s good to see that Cooler Master has once again got it spot on, with everything fitting together perfectly and feeling wonderfully solid."

- DriverHeaven: NZXT Whisper Case Review:
"The NZXT Whisper is certainly a more spacious case than the Hush, and from most cases around its price range as well. It is very sturdy and well-built, while it can house a very large number of drives and components. Separating the case into two compartments is a clever idea as it allows for a more organized and tidy layout, meaning more components can be installed and reducing the heat transfer between them. The HDD trays were a clever idea as not only it makes the installation of HDDs easier, but they allow the installation of 2.5" drives as well. Other smaller features such as the tool-less locking mechanisms and the water cooling hose holes increase the value of this case further."

- Hardware Secrets: Lian-Li PC-888 Case Review:
"Lian-Li PC-888 uses a different design and top-notch materials, so is not for the average user: it is targeted for the rich user that wants a high-quality case with an exotic design. Here is a summary of what we found about this case."

- Rbmods: NZXT Whisper Silent System PC Case Review:
"The NZXT Whisper Computer Case is well-designed computer case that has a number of features that help reduce noise. You can see NZXT’s attention to detail in this case; every source of noise was considered and mitigated to a certain degree. Being a full-sized tower, the case has plenty of drive bays and is easy to build. While the case isn’t as flashy as some cases on the market, the Whisper case has an understated elegance and performance to match."

- TweakTown: Cooler Master Cosmos Black Label Limited Edition Chassis Review:
"Cooler Master has really surprised the market by releasing the new Black Label while we are in the middle of an economic downturn. The economy may explain why such a small number will be sold here in the US, a mere 10%. The limited numbers will surely make the Black Label a collector’s item among those of us who collect rare parts. Still, others who do not consider themselves collectors will surely want to get in the action as well.
The pricing breakdown comes out like this; all prices taken from Newegg. The Cosmos 1000 is available for 189.99, the UCP-700W is another 189.99 and the Z600R is 59.99, so the total comes out to less than 460 USD. That leaves a pretty high price premium for the Black Label and it is up to the buyer to determine if that premium is worth it to them."

- Virtual-Hideout: Cooler Master ATCS 840 Chassis Review:
"With their ATCS 840, Cooler Master has given enthusiasts an option to have a truly huge chassis with a measure of style thrown in too. Though the case is expensive, it is to be expected from nearly thirty pounds of exquisitely machined aluminum; the sheer number of features - useful features - and the smoothness of operation overall makes this case a true winner. Though using the motherboard tray creates more hassles than it does bolster solutions when a system is fully installed, it's still a nice thing to see. After all, a full sized heatsink can be installed right before the system is build; and that's just one of the nice things about this case. Provided you have the room for it, and the desire for one of the best air cooled cases on the market, then the ATCS 840 is a hard case to pass up. What's even more impressive to it, though, is how this case manages to move more air than the previous champion - the HAF932, all while appealing to a more global audience than the formerly hard designs. I'm going to go and call this one a major winner. Go out and grab this if you're looking for a new case!"
