64GB-128GB Five-Way Solid State Drive Roundup
DriverHeaven have tested and compared five 64GB to 128GB solid state drives (SSDs) from G.Skill, Intel, Kingston, OCZ, and Super Talent.
Here's an excerpt:
"When we first reviewed the Intel X25-M we were very impressed and since then we have seen Intel release a firmware which ensures that the drives retains its performance more effectively, additionally the new firmware gave the drive a slight bump in maximum speed which was not advertised. Despite its age the X25-M still performs very well when compared to newer drives and is rarely impacted by a lower write speed than most other models.
Added to this the fact that it features a self cleaning feature and wear levelling and we see that Intel have created a very well rounded product which has performed well for 8months even though it has powered every one of our major component reviews in that time. When choosing a fast, reliable drive for every day or critical systems the X25-M remains our number one choice."
Although competing SSDs are continuously getting better, the X25-M arguably remains the most well-rounded model on the market.
