Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 Special Edition Reviews
CPU3D, DriverHeaven and Guru3D have reviewed various special edition Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 graphics cards, namely the HD 4890 Atomic, HD 4890 Toxic, and HD 4890 Vapor-X.
Here's what they had to say:
- CPU3D: Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 Vapor-X (1Gb GDDR5):
"I have to say, I was pretty impressed with Sapphire's Radeon HD 4870 Vapor-X. It produced very good scores during our benchmarks, and this is all thanks to the slightly overclocked GPU @ 870Mhz, which is cooled by Sapphire's innovative Vapor-X cooling. Although it wasn't the fastest single GPU based graphics card in our comparison, it competed very well against the impressive Geforce GTX 285. It offers a slight improvement over the original Radeon HD 4870, and should prove to be hit amonst AMD/ATI fans."

- DriverHeaven: Sapphire Radeon 4890 Atomic:
"The ATI 4890 is an impressive card in its own right and this Atomic edition is really quite special.
As we mentioned earlier in the review, some of these cores won’t even reach 1Ghz in a stable manner so purchasing one of these is essentially like having a handpicked card. With the increased clock speeds it offers superb performance in all of the latest titles and in a select number of cases outperforms the Nvidia GTX285.
In addition to the card’s very strong performance the Vapor-X cooler is a fabulous inclusion and offers great thermal cooling especially with the immense clocks. Additionally it is almost silent which is a huge bonus considering the noise levels some of ATI’s reference coolers can subject you to at high fan speeds."

- Guru3D:
"The product from Sapphire that we reviewed today is in fact a little gem. Typically I leave personal comments out of a conclusion, as here at Guru3D we are all about bringing you guys objective reviews on hardware. But with this Toxic Vapor-X I popped it into the test PC... and instantly it felt good. We power up, boot into Windows... no noticeable noise, then I check the temperatures, all is perfectly fine. And then before benchmarking I always play some games to get my first impression out of a card and immediately that felt good as well. This product has been an instant hit from the very start."

All three of these models are excellent, and they are arguably among the best HD 4890's on the market.
